Constitutional Chaplains
California Chaplain Corps provides "Constitutional Chaplains" -- not congregational clergy. They are trained in trauma response, grief support and are crisis and stress management experts.
CCC Law Enforcement Chaplains are faith-based; however, we serve people of all faiths and people of no-faith. We are non-denominational and offer spiritual care only when requested.
As Constitutional Chaplains, we have the highest level of confidentiality (similar to a doctor or attorney). Under the California Code of Evidence 1035.4, we cannot be compelled to testify regarding anything we discussed with any individual or department.
There are three exceptions to confidentiality:
- Imminent Harm (when a person is a danger to themselves or others).
- Child Abuse (Chaplains are mandated reporters).
- Elder Abuse (Chaplains are mandated reporters).
