Constitutional Chaplains
California Chaplain Corps provides "Constitutional Chaplains" -- not congregational clergy. They are trained in trauma response, grief support and are crisis and stress management experts.
CCC Law Enforcement Chaplains are faith-based; however, we serve people of all faiths and people of no-faith. We are non-denominational and offer spiritual care only when requested.
As Constitutional Chaplains, we have the highest level of confidentiality (similar to a doctor or attorney). Under the California Code of Evidence, we cannot be compelled to testify regarding anything we discussed with any individual or department.
There are three exceptions to confidentiality:
- Imminent Harm (when a person is a danger to themselves or others).
- Child Abuse (Chaplains are mandated reporters).
- Elder Abuse (Chaplains are mandated reporters).
